New in PL/PDF v5: AES-256 PDF Encryption

PL/PDF v5 now supports AES-256 encryption for PDF documents generated directly inside Oracle Database.

Why is this important?

Oracle permissions protect data while it is inside the database. But once a PDF is downloaded, emailed or stored elsewhere, that protection no longer applies.

AES-256 encryption adds protection directly to the PDF file itself, making it suitable for confidential documents such as contracts, financial reports, HR documents and customer information.

The workflow remains simple:

Oracle data → PL/SQL → PL/PDF → AES-256 encrypted PDF

No external reporting or encryption server is required.

Encryption protects confidentiality, while digital signatures protect authenticity and integrity.

Another security improvement for document generation directly from Oracle PL/SQL.
